From Workforce Transportation to a Growing Rural Mobility System
Waupaca County began with a clear workforce challenge: employers needed a dependable way for people to reach jobs, including early shifts, late shifts, and schedules shaped by childcare, distance, and rural geography.
Catch a Ride worked with employers, community partners, local leaders, and economic-development organizations to create transportation support designed around the realities of rural work.
As the service grew, the community recognized that the need was bigger than workforce transportation alone. People also needed support reaching healthcare, groceries, essential services, and opportunities outside traditional service hours.
Today, the work has evolved into a broader rural mobility partnership designed to support long-term community access.

Metrocrest Services has long been a trusted source of support for neighbors facing crisis, helping individuals, families, and seniors stabilize their lives and move toward a stronger future.
For years, Metrocrest operated its own transportation service because the organization understood that transportation was essential to helping clients reach care, services, and support. But as costs rose, maintaining that service became unsustainable. Through Feonix’s North Texas Transportation Assistance Hub, Metrocrest found a more practical way forward. Catch a Ride provided a coordinated mobility platform designed to help manage client trips, track transportation funding, and stay within program budgets.
With transportation support organized through a stronger system, Metrocrest could stay focused on what mattered most: helping neighbors overcome barriers and continue moving toward stability.
